For example, I'm hiking with my friend. There's still a long way to reach the top of the mountain, but my friend looks exhausted.
In this situation, if I say, "There's not much time left until we arrive. Cheer up!", my friend can cheer up more than if I say, "We still have to go a long way.".
Like this example, it's okay not to be always honest.
