ȸ ÷ֽ ۹Q. Developing countries should be encouraged to implement
high tariffs to grow their local industries. To what extent do you agree or
disagree?
While I agree that an increased tariff is disadvantaged for
local people, such as higher prices for consumers, less pressure to innovate
and risk of trade retaliation, I personally believe that it brings more
benefits. In this essay, I will explain why I believe this.
REVISED: While I agree that increased tariffs can disadvantage local people; such as by raising consumer prices, reducing innovation, and increasing the risk of trade retaliation; I personally believe that they bring more benefits overall. In this essay, I will explain why I hold this view.
The first reason is protecting infant industries, for
example, a start-up companies are hard to get into the early stages of the
industry. In more detail, statistics show 132 companies were created last year,
but only 30 of them survived in this year, if the increase tariffs, the price
of foreign products will go up, and domestic products are given time and
opportunity. At that reason, it helps a start-up companies.
REVISED: The first reason is the protection of infant industries. For example, start-up companies often struggle to survive in the early stages of development. According to statistics, 132 new companies were created last year, but only 30 survived into this year. If tariffs are increased, the prices of foreign products rise, giving domestic products more time and opportunity to grow in the market. For this reason, increased tariffs can help support start-up companies.
The second reason is job creation and economic growth, for
example, when tariffs go up, domestic production increases, and work creation
rates also increase. According to the new, it is said that about 1,000 people
can work in factories owned by big name companies. Recently, the employment
problem of young people in Korea remains some homework for society, and if
these are solved, the domestic economy can also be revitalized.
REVISED: The second reason is job creation and economic growth. When tariffs go up, domestic production tends to increase, which leads to more job opportunities. According to the news, about 1,000 people can be employed in factories owned by major companies. In South Korea, youth unemployment remains a serious issue, and if this problem is addressed, the domestic economy can also be revitalized.
Due to reasons, I believe that an increasing tariff can have
a positive effect. Especially, infant industries and young people who are find
to job opportunities.
