I think that answer separate between scientific section and literary section. but the scientific answer is more correct than literary one.

when we eat some food, our cell in the tongue (taste cell) send electrical sign to brain. And then electrical sign make brain cell shocking statement. Shocked brain creates more hormones, we feel better.
