I had moved every 3 years before I bought a house. I think it was different between rent a house and buy a house. I didn't want to be close with people who lived in the same APT. I didn't have the consciousness of community. Because I thought I wouldn't live here in the future. But now I feel comfortable that I could stay here if I want to live. And People in each floor looks like neighbor. I think Living in the same place for long time is the same as living in hometown.

I like your story, and I understand why you don't want to have an emotional investment with your previous neighbors because of that. You know, I have the same thought while working as an ESL teacher.  Most teachers in this field come and go, so I don't invest too much in building relationships with my colleagues because it will bring a heartache once they leave.
