I am satisfied with our medical insurance system. This is due to the coverage and cost effectiveness. First there is coverage. National insurance covers various medical demands, even acupuncture. For example, malocclusion patients requiring dental and plastic surgeries receive insurance payment. Secondly, our national insurance system is low cost. The medical insurance system is funded by the government and contributions based on the recipient’s income. After enrollment, patients pay the portion of their medical costs, and the rest are covered by an insurance scheme. Also, unemployed individuals can join individually with the lowest contribution. Furthermore, there is Medical Aid for the low-income household. There is a growing fear that national insurance deposit will be fully depleted by 2030 in the current pace of spending which indicate there can be a hike in the contribution rate. Even considering the future hike, this insurance system will be beneficial.
