I think that through reading novels, we can learn better about society, human nature, the world that surrounds us, and history. We all learn about politics, society, economics, and history through textbooks during our school days. However, textbooks are not very interesting to students. So I dont think the learning effect is that great. On the other hand, novels are fun. If a novel is really interesting, once you start reading it, you may not be able to put it down until you finish. And, the novel is based on historical facts, and many characters conflict, suffer, love, and sometimes die through numerous events. When we read a novel, we empathize with the characters and indirectly experience numerous events in the novel. Additionally, we can have fun studying the real history that is the background of the novel while reading the novel. I think I was able to learn more about World and Korean history by reading related novels than by reading history textbooks.

Happy Monday, Sun!

Reading novels offers a deeper understanding of human nature by immersing us in characters' emotions and motivations, exploring societal dynamics and cultural contexts, and prompting reflection on universal themes like love, loss, and identity. This engagement fosters empathy, critical thinking, and a broader perspective on the complexities of life and society.
