I don't think that learning Chinese is essential in the future even if the country has more powerful than US economically and physically. Since English has already been a common language of the world, it's not likely for Chinese to replace it.

Absolutely! Even if China becomes really powerful in the future, the English language will still help us communicate with them and other countries, unlike Chinese, which is only useful when talking to Chinese people.
