I sometimes used to tell a white lie because I thought telling the truth could offend others or worsen the situations. I did it with altruistic purposes, but it turned out to be against my expectation. And I had to acknowledge that white lie was a lie to them. Or I often used to tell a white lie as excuse for some mistakes. But it almost always ended up with worse results. So nowadays, I would rather take the fifth than a clumsy white lie because white lie is eventually a lie or falsehood no matter how hard I try to justify it. However, I understand those who tell a white lie not to offend or worsen situation as I did before. Their intentions were good but their method was just wrong. So I encourage them not to tell a lie any more sharing my experience.
