Are there any controversies or concerns related to the use of armed police in your country?

Korea is a country where carrying firearms is prohibited. Only police officers can carry firearms. Also, gun accidents rarely occur. The gun accident that occurred accidentally was a simple homemade pistol, which has a significantly low lethality capability. Therefore, there were no concerns or controversies about excessive use of firearms by police in Korea. Rather, in Korea, there are occasional cases where police officers are injured or, in extreme cases, killed by violent criminals. Accordingly, public opinion is growing that police officers should be better armed and more actively use firearms for self-defense against violent criminals. However, the police still do not use firearms except in very special cases. Meanwhile, looking at gun accidents that frequently occur in the United States, where gun ownership is free, I wonder why the U.S. government does not ban ordinary citizens from carrying guns.
