Korean people generally give gifts when they want to express their gratitude.
And sometimes, gifts are given as an expression of apology.
Also, gifts are given when celebrating birthdays, entrance and graduation of schools, or joining a company.
Young couples sometimes exchange gifts as a promise of love.
In my case, I enjoy giving gifts.
When I finished my English class last year, I sent a gift to my Filipino English teacher.
I wanted to express my grattitude and introduce a Korean culture where students give some presents to their teachers at the end of the semester.
When my juniors move from my department to other departments, I also give them gifts as a way of saying goodbye.
I feel good when I give someone a gift.
I am satisfied as long as the person receiving my gift feels good.
