When I talk with someone who I meet first, I usually choose the topic that is related to personality including MBTI. It is really common topic for everybody because that topic is suitable for small talk.
However, there are some topics that I don't want to talk about with someone who I meet first or I don't know well. First, it is a family history. In korea, family history can be a sensitive topic for someone. To be more specific, there can be someone who don't want to speak about their mom, dad, or their brother or sister. Not all families have a warm atmosphere. It depends on everybody. So I don't talk about a family history in this situation.
Second, the university. In korea, thr hierarcy of university is really important thing among students. Not only teenager but also students of university, maybe all students in korea find this critical. It also can be a sensitive topic, so avoding this topic is a tacit rule among people who don't know well one another.

Hello, Ms. Casey! You're right. There are certain topics that might be sensitive to other people but not to you. We have to be mindful of these things when meeting people as they could also affect the kind of relationship you could have with the person you are talking to. Thank you for sharing!
