I think it depends on how good relationship they have with their families.
As individuals grow up, some become very independent and are likely to closer with their friends.
Some are very family person, and they believe in their family more than any.
I think whom they feel closer, they could become more honest, because they know just becoming honest would not ruin their relationship.
