Mostly I enjoy my life in UK, but I miss how efficient and fast the public transportation is in Korea. First there are frequent strike which happens frequently in tube. In most cases the reason is to protest a below inflation pay increase. This year, tube staffs have been proposed a 5% pay increase with 1000 pounds of lump sum payment. Second there are regular breakdown which cause huge delays. These failures are due to outdated facilities which the originals can be traced back to early 1900s. Except for Elizabeth line, tubes do not have platform screen doors and air conditioning. Last year I was stranded in tube for three hours due to signal issues. I was so surprised to see how nonchalant British were regarding tube failures. Finally, there are lack of manpower. Staff shortage led tube to skip some stations or drivers to circumvent the original route. There are several cases that bus stop operating during their journey which costs passenger extra fee.
