Well, money isn't the root of all evil, but I think it contributes to some extent.
But in my opinion, greed rather than money is the root of evil.
There is an old Korean saying that "Other people's rice cake looks bigger." or "My stomach hurts when my counsin buys the land."
It's about being unsatisfied with one's own, coverting other's and being jealous.
At first, you start with wanting to have something small, then when you have something small, you want to have something big, and eventually you want something bigger, and then you'll go too far.
That's why we should always be wary of greed because if a person doesn't know how to be satisfied, greed will become excessive and crime can occur due to desire.
