This question is so easy for me because I have asked same questions hundreds of time to hundreds of strangers for these 2 months as a freshman. I think it is good to ask their basic information such as their name, age, where they live, mbti or where they came from. Asking these things can reduce our fear for them as a stranger. Also, we can feel more close to them and it can lead to longer or deeper conversation.
