I think there are a lot of situations.

First, I think you should decline an invitation when you aren't happy.

It's because you can express that you aren't feeling good after accepting an invitation when you aren't feeling good.

Second, if you feel uncomfortable accepting the invitation or if you don't like it, you should reject an invitation.

Because in my experience, in this case, there's a remarkably high probability that something bad like a fight will happen.
