They tell us what the politician want to do after he or she get elected. For example, some parties make a policy that helps general people or poor people, which means they tend to distribute money and make policy for many people. Some parties don't pay attention to distributing money and they are friendly to companies. Some parties help pay workers. So we can partly anticipate the result of electing politicians by their parties.
