I guess I don't have to do what they do in the same way. Rather, I think I should be careful not to accept their culture without any criticism because there are some cultures that are counter to common belief. But at the same time, I must keep an open mind to new cultures.
I don't know what someone who created that saying was meant to say, but if that means you have to accept exotic culture without criticism only because you are in there, I don't agree with that. I can be open-minded but always have to keep my own thoughts and of course behaviors followed by that thought.
But that saying perhaps doesn't mean something like 'you have to follow everything!'. I think it may be suggesting 'if there isn't any specific reason, it's good to follow their rules if don't, you might not be welcomed.'
