I think it's important what kind of discussion it is and who you discuss with.
I think it is a very pleasant and different experience to discuss with people who can understand new perspectives while recognizing various opinions, which is consistent with the meaning of the proverb.
However, I don't think it will be a good experience for me if the other person only insists on his or her opinion and proceeds without listening to others.
Therefore, I am half in favor of and half against the content of the proverb.
