What are the advantages of multitasking?

I think the advantages of multitasking are different on the job.
Among the many jobs, especially customer service or telephone consultants, doing a lot of multitasking.
They find the customer wants information and speak at the same time.
The advantage of this is that we can solve work and save time.
So these jobs is essential the multitasking.
But, except for the above jobs.
I think many jobs owner seem to avoid multitasking.
One of the reasons is that the quality of work is poor.
So, I think the pros and cons of multitasking this seem to vary depending on the jobs.
