I think you know too well how to handle your stress. Running is life freedom, every step makes you closer to another destination. I totally agree that a sound body gives us comfort knowing that we are doing our bodies a good favor.

Therefore, run when you are stressed or simply run when you want to. It keeps you active, alert, and it releases the happy hormones you need.
