You can have to carry some gadgets with you, such as a compass, map, umbrella, or some food or water to have.
Switching gear, when you go to a place where you have never been to, you also need to consider who you're accompanying. For example, if you go on a hike with infants or toddlers, you can take a stroller and check in advance if the path is good for a stroller.
