In South Korea, most renting a house has a contraction in 2 years so when people need to move to another city such as for getting a job or going to a university, they can search another one after the contraction. Apart from that renting a house is quite cheaper that buying a house and the banking loan system is well-organized depending on people's financial conditions.
However, there are some drawbacks. Firstly, they need to have a contraction again every 2 years and if the landlord wants to increase the rental deposits, the tenant has to follow that. Also, they cannot decorate the house depending on the tenant's taste such as pegging, remodeling and so on. Additionally, most people want to be owner of the house, that's why they buy the house despite of an expensive house here in South Korea.
