1. The Miami Heat are the only team that can give the San Antonio Spurs a run for their money this year.
2. He is a good runner, but he tends to run out of steam ( = lose energy) about half- way through the race.
3. There's nothing special about this pen. It's just a regular, run-of-the-mill pen.
4. It' a bad idea to run a red light. There are cops everywhere, and they will give you a ticket for this.
5. The hatred between them is deep-seated. = The hatred between them runs deep.
6. What are you going to do when all your money runs dry?
7. The thieves were on the run after the police realized they had robbed the bank.
