Workplace abuse represented by bullying is a social issue for many South Korean companies. According to a recent article, 29.6 percent of workers experienced harassment at work. In my perspective, there should be separate professionals or teams with a high level of autonomy so that employees could escalate such concerns. The reason is from the investigation. Since every department's interests are interrelated, there could be restrictions when the internal team investigates. HR or legal departments mostly manage these abuse cases, which they report to the team manager. This feature would make workers difficult to escalate. Also, the government should protect workers by enacting the law with severe punishment. Usually, workplace harassment cases are managed by the Ministry of Labor. However, the penalty level is so low compared to the mental and physical damage, with fining maximum of USD 5,000. Accordingly, the government should reinforce the relevant law.
