n the past, we preferred boys to girls, so when boys were born, it was fortunate for the family. That day, We hung a rope with red chilly pepper poking above the front gate of the house. The purpose is to boast of having a boy in their family and to wish for the boy’s long life without sickness and bad fortunes. In addition, When there was a rope hung above the front gate, people didn’t visit the house to protect the baby from viruses or germs out of the house. That’s because babies died of sickness or contagion within 100 days after birth. We still have a 100th-day ceremony when a baby survives in 100 days. Nowadays our medical system develops very well, so the babies grow in good health, but we keep the 100th-day ceremony to wish for the baby’s life-long fortune.

The purpose is to boast of having a boy in their family and to wish for the boy’s long life without sickness and bad fortunes.
>>The purpose is to boast the coming of a baby boy in their family and to wish the boy with long life and good fortunes ahead of him. 
In addition, When there was a rope hung above the front gate, people didn’t visit the house to protect the baby from viruses or germs out of the house.
>>In addition, if people saw the red pepper tied on a thread in front of the house people would not dare visit the house to protect the baby from viruses and germs. 
That’s because babies died of sickness or contagion within 100 days after birth. We still have a 100th-day ceremony when a baby survives in 100 days.
>>That was because a lot of babies died of contagious diseases 100 days after their birth so we honor the first 100th day of a baby.
